Privacy policy

PlanMyWealth is a website for researching companies and planning long-term investing. It's run by an individual in the United Kingdom, who is the data controller for the information described here. We keep what we collect to a minimum and never sell it.
What we collect
- Your account: your email address, the name you give, and your password, which we store only as a salted, one-way hash (PBKDF2-SHA256). We can't see your password.
- What you save: your watchlist, theses, journal notes, letters, plans, checklist ticks, learning progress and practice portfolio.
- Community posts: anything you post in the Community feed is shown to other members with your name, along with likes. Deleting a post or your account removes your posts. Member counts of which companies are watched are only ever shown combined, never per person.
- Account activity: when you joined and when you last logged in.
- Technical data: our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and pages requested) for security and to keep the site running.
- Visit counts: we count page views and roughly how many people visit each day. To tell visitors apart within a day we use a one-way code made from your network address and browser, which can't be turned back into either and changes every day. We don't store your IP address for this, and we don't follow you across days or other sites.
We don't ask for, and you shouldn't enter, bank details, brokerage logins or government ID numbers. Member accounts don't connect to any brokerage.
Why we use it
- To create and run your account and keep what you save available to you (necessary to provide the service you asked for).
- To keep the site secure, for example limiting repeated login attempts (our legitimate interest in protecting the service).
We don't use your information for advertising, we don't profile you, and we don't send marketing emails.
Who else handles it
- Vercel hosts the website.
- Upstash provides the database where accounts and saved items are kept.
These providers process data on our behalf under their own data-protection terms and may store it outside the UK, protected by standard safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum. Market data providers (for prices, filings and analyst figures) only ever receive company ticker symbols, never your personal information.
Cookies and browser storage
We use one essential cookie to keep you logged in. Your light or dark theme choice is remembered in your own browser. There are no advertising or tracking cookies and no third-party analytics, so we don't need a cookie banner.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and saved items until you delete your account. You can do that at any time under My account; it immediately removes your account and everything you saved. Server logs are kept by our hosting provider for a short period.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to access, correct, export or delete your information, and object to or restrict how it's used. You can change your details and delete your account yourself under My account; for anything else, contact us at planmywealth26@gmail.com. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Age
PlanMyWealth is intended for people aged 18 and over.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top. Significant changes will be shown on the site.
